How to Wire Money With NBT Bank
There are two ways that you can wire money from an NBT Bank account. You can do it with your online account using the process of External Account Transfer. This method allows you to move funds between your NBA Bank account and other financial institutions. These accounts include your checking or savings accounts or those of others.
You can start one of these transfers by logging into your NBT Online Banker account, a process that will be discussed in more depth shortly. Look through your available tabs on top of the page and click on “Transfers.” Clicking here will take you to a new section of the web page where you can select the “Recipients” tabs to create a new external account for your transfer.
In this section, you need to verify the accounts to which you plan to transfer money. This process will require you filling in some fields to set up the transfer. These information fields include the name of the person associated with the account, the account number, and a routing number. If you are transferring money to one of your other accounts, this information will be easy to get by directly calling the other bank. However, moving it to another person’s bank requires getting that information directly from that person, as most banks won’t share that personal information with others.
After you have set up your account and the other financial institution has verified its accuracy, you can select “Account Balances” and choose the amount of money that you want to transfer. You are limited to $2,000 per week and $5,000 a month on incoming and outgoing transfers. However, you can also choose to perform in-person domestic wiring at any NBT Bank location near you. Both of these processes will have a 24-hour processing time, so make sure to plan for that waiting period.
To perform an in-person transfer, talk to a representative at the bank or a teller and tell them that you want to complete a wire transfer. They will provide you with the proper paperwork and help you fill it out if you need assistance. Make sure that you bring the appropriate information, including the name of the bank, its routing number, the address, and the name of the person to whom you are sending the money. You will also need your banking account number and NBT Bank’s routing number – 021303618.
How to Enroll in Online Banking
Before you learn how to login to your NBT Bank account, it is important to create one that coordinates to your banking information. This process has been streamlined as much as possible to make it easy to handle. Start by clicking on this link to go to the enrollment page. Once you are there, click on the “Enroll” button to start the process. You will have the option to make either a personal or a business account.
The differences between the two methods are minor, but for the sake of simplicity, we’ll talk strictly about the personal account type. Click on the “Get Started” button to move on to the next page. Here, you can choose “Personal” from the drop-down menu and select “I’m new to NBT Online Banker” instead of I’m already enrolled in NBT Online Banker.”
Click on the “Enroll” button to enter the “Automated Enrollment” section. If you had selected “Business,” you would have been taken to a separate section that allowed you to select service package options, such as “Basic Service Suite,” “ACH Service Suite,” and more. These options provide you with a multitude of different banking choices that should be discussed with your account manager before creating an online account.
As you chose “Personal” for this process, you will now be asked to provide three pieces of information. These include your account number, the type of account you hold with NBT Bank, and your Social Security number. The account type options include checking, savings, Certificate of Deposit, or installment loan. Select which is appropriate for you and then click on the “Continue” button to move on to the “Account Creation” page.
Once you have reached this section of the site, you also need to provide your name, your date of birth, your address, and an e-mail address. All of this information is used to verify your account. Once you have finished verifying your account (a verification e-mail will be sent to the address you provided), you can create a User ID and a password. Make sure to write these down somewhere in case you forget them or lose them. Thankfully, you can reset your password if necessary by using a reset form either from your e-mail account or phone number, which you can add to your account at any time.
